Director, Marketing Strategy

We are currently seeking an experienced Director, Marketing Strategy to execute end to end media strategy & planning across both traditional and performance media, and develop/deliver strategic recommendations to support our clients in achieving all marketing and business objectives. Job Description

The Director, Marketing Strategy will develop cohesive marketing plans that cover both awareness and performance media to deliver client objectives. This role will be responsible for managing others, setting short and long term goals for their immediate team in alignment with ROR’s overall strategic objectives. This role develops, implements, leads, and supports key strategies throughout the company to ensure client strength, growth, and retention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and Evolve the media planning process from end to end
  • Lead client-facing strategy efforts across key accounts:
    • Define standardized processes, tools, and templates for strategy deliverables (QBRs, media plans, lift analysis)
    • Escalation point for complex strategic questions
    • Lead strategy & planning for key accounts: media planning, learning plans, lift analysis
    • Manage & update Media Planning Engine, an automated media mix modeling and optimization tool
  • Deep understanding and demonstrated proficiency in the following areas:
    • Marketing strategy and execution across all channels, especially digital media
    • Marketing technology and advertising technology, different components and how they fit together
    • Predictive analytics as applied to marketing decision problems
    • Leading client discussions, especially on complex or contentious topics
    • Ability to communicate credibly and effectively with external / industry audiences via speaking or writing
    • Building and managing high performing marketing programs in a variety of client/industry settings
  • Define and execute strategic client programs that result in minimizing attrition
  • Define standardized strategy deliverables across clients
  • Implement and maintain test and learning plans for all clients
  • Provide strategy and planning support by brand across retention and acquisition efforts
  • Understand market opportunities and customer needs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required or relevant work experience
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in marketing and/or agency
  • Complete understanding of the marketing landscape, funnel, and pipeline
  • Competent and extremely proficient understanding of all MS Office software; must be agile in using PowerPoint for client decks, and Excel for client reporting & analytics
  • Expert understanding of the marketing funnel and understanding of industry vertical(s)
  • Excellent understanding of digital, direct, CRM, UX, and customer journey marketing
  • Expert understanding of industry benchmark KPIs
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Reacts to client adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently
  • Flexible during times of change
  • Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, contractors, and other departments
